We’re looking for our Forever Homes
Andy (male, 7 years, Tulsa)

Here’s me re-creating what would be my over the shoulder High School graduation pic! Hey, with this many GReat goldens available for adoption, a guy has gotta do something to standout from the crowd. I’m a laid back boy who gets along with both (yes both) dogs & cats. I’m your standard (but by no means ordinary) golden standing by waiting to whisper “I love U’s” to my new family.
Bailey (female, 6 years, OKC) Adoption Pending

I’ve got to be the smartest golden the rescue has seen. I was wandering all on my own & of all of the houses I could have sauntered over to, I selected a family who is active in the rescue community & was able to send me on my way to SGRR. My rescue was timely cause despite my happy go lucky, tail always wagging nature, I was a sick little girl due to blood suckers (the tick kind, not the vampires from Twilight), thankfully my docs nipped that in the bud & I’m all better. I’m living it up in a foster home, kickin’ it with my golden brother. I’ve got my indoor manners down pat & am potty-trained.
Banjo (male, 10 mos, Tulsa)

Well I’ll go ahead & state the obvious, I’m not a golden, but thankfully, my golden locks saved me from a one-way trip across the “Rainbow Bridge”. Like any youngster, A LOT of patience, training in basic manners & plenty of exercise will earn me that “Dog of the Year” trophy. For those looking for a puppy & all of the joys that go with it…potty training, crate training, leash training…you can go ahead & stop your search–I promise not to disappoint!
Barney (male, 4-6 years, OKC)

The volunteers here thought I was a bit aloof & perhaps I was missing that golden spark, but that was pre-stuffed animals. I absolutely love them! It’s about time the folks here reunited me with my long lost stuffed babies–I’ve regained my will to live–ok that’s a bit dramatic, but I think you get my point. If you’ve got a toy bin, I know a certain fellow that would be right at home…ME! Oh, & in case you’re wondering, I’m dog friendly, so a canine brother or sister would be an added bonus.
Bo (male, 9 years, OKC)

Don’t let my gray mask full you, I’ve got plenty of vim & vigor pulsating through this body! Due to some personal challenges (my family’s, not mine), I had to leave the only house I ever knew & was surrendered to the rescue. I’m currently in a foster home with siblings comprised of the 4 & 2 legged kind. The ‘rents are happy to report that I’m potty-trained & gentle with the kiddos. While I’m a bit of a scaredy cat when it comes to thunderstorms, just point me to the nearest bathtub and I’ll be ok. Sooo, if you’re looking for a sweet fellow that could easily transition into your home (and your hearts)…please, please ask for me–Bo!
Bobbi Sox (female, 1 year, Tulsa)

A little something extra snuck into my family tree leaving me with my very own “Bobbi Socks”. Aside from my fancy feet, I’m all golden inside and out. Being the youngster that I am, the volunteers are amazed at how well-mannered I am. I was found with a tie-out around my neck tangled up in a bush–there is no way I want to go back to my life pre-rescue, so I’m trying my hardest to be the best girl that I can be.
Boomer (male, 4 years, Tulsa)

I hope you’re not a Cowboy fan cause my name is BOOMER and I’m hoping to find my family SOONER rather than later! Just between me & the Stillwater fans, I’ll glady replace “Boomer” for “Pistol Pete” if that gets me a permanent home where I can be a welcomed part of the family!
Brinkleigh (female, 9 years, OKC)

It’s kind of hard to put on a happy face due to my current health status, but please know that I’m one happy girl now that I’m receiving the medical care & attention that I so needed. Despite the shock value of my picture, the docs say I’ll recover & my golden locks will return–with time, love & good quality kibble. I know the cards are stacked against me right now due to my current appearance & age, but I’m hoping there is a family out there that is willing to place more emphasis on my personality than on my looks.
Carter (male, 2 years, Tulsa) Adoption Pending

As my namesake, President Jimmy Carter once said, “You just have to have a simple faith”. I had an unconventional method in testing such faith as I was found dodging in & out of traffic on a super busy street. Despite my finder’s exhaustive efforts, no family stepped forward to claim me. For most, this might put one’s faith in question but I remained strong & look at me now–safe & sound in the hands of a rescue that knows what my breed requires and will help me find that special family where I no longer feel the need to test my faith!
Cassie (female, 7 years, OKC) Adoption Pending

Looking for a “turn key” golden–I’d be that girl! I was surrendered along with my big sis Sierra. Being a single parent & working long hours took its toll on our Dad & we were surrendered in hopes that there will be a family out there that will have the time & energy for us. Though we’ve spent the last 5 years together, it will be ok if we’ve got to part ways in order to have a “forever” home. I am potty-trained & am trusted in the house loose at night…you can’t say that about those wild youngins!
Chester (male, 12 years, OKC)

My name may be Chester, but I should be called “The Great Golden Hope” cause at the age of 12, I’m still tickin’. Not that me being alive is any miracle, it’s the hope that the other seniors (the under 12 crowd) have a chance at adoption. I’m proof that life doesn’t end after 8. The only thing slowing me down these days is the extra padding around my belly but the foster mom has me on a diet & exercise plan to tackle my battle with the bulge. I love squeeky toys & being the retriever that I am, I do carry things around in my mouth. I’m working on the whole crate training thing & appear to be potty-trained. I get along with other dogs, though I don’t know about kitty-cats.
Cheyenne (female, 7 years old, OKC)
Well I had a reprieve from the kennel for a year & enjoyed the perks of living in a home…too bad my family’s relocation plans didn’t include me…so I’m back & hoping for success with Round 2. I’m an affectionate girl that’s ready to settle in and be your one and only…trust me, there’s enough of me to go around (though a walking club might help that). I would do best in a settled home laying by your feet (or your lap if you’ll let me). I’m already crate trained & potty trained, so you could call me a “turn key” golden…turn the key to your door (and heart) and let me in!
Cooper (male, 12 mos, OKC) Adoption Pending

I see Cooper is a popular name, so just to prevent any confusion, you can refer to me as Mr. Super Duper Cooper. I’m another one of those crazy youngsters that stops just long enough to get my fill of pets & cuddles before I’m off to my next adventure. I like to play rowdy with other dogs but minded my manners around a little-bitty dog I met the other day. Like all young goldens, plenty of exercise & a basic manners course will need to be on the agenda for my future family.
Cooper (male, 18 mos, OKC) Adoption Pending

Howdy! Name’s Cooper & I’m a mover & a shaker. My activity level combined with a household consisting of several young kids didn’t make for the best match for my family or for me. I’m a typical youngster who would greatly benefit from a basic manners class (I do know “sit”) and an outlet for me to burn off some energy (I love to swim!)–no small kids please. I am crate trained & reportedly potty-trained which is an added bonus!
Dillon (male, 7.5 mos, OKC)

My foster mom says you have to watch out for the cute puppies–the cuter they are, the more ornery they are & I’m doing my best to prove her right! To say I’m active is an understatement & I see lots & lots & lots of training in my future. You might think I’m a “bad boy”, but all of us adorable, fluffy puppies grow up & go through this stage. As I’m a “work in progress” & will be for the next couple of years (yes you read that right, years), I’d do best in a home with kids older than 10. I am dog friendly (love to rough house) & am working on leaving my kitty sis alone (it’s tough cause she’s like a big furry stuffed animal that begs to be chased). If you think you’re up for the challenge (and approved to adopt), let the volunteers know that you’d like a playdate with me, DILLON!
Duke (male, 11 mos, OKC) Adopted!

I’ll be turning 1 in the coming weeks & I’m sure you can guess what I’ll be wishing for when I blow out the candles on the cake. I should be relatively easy to integrate into your family as I’m dog friendly, cat friendly, do good with the kiddos (though I can get a bit excited). I am a typical youngster, so I need help learning not to jump up on people & with my basic obedience. While I put up a stink going into my crate, I do crate quietly–I just need reassurance that you’re not going to forget about me–us goldens, especially the puppers, need a good dose of time with their people.
Duke (male, 8 years, TULSA)

Duke, Duke, Duke, Duke of Earl, Duke, Duke…yep, that’s me the Duke of Earl searching out my Duchess or anyone else willing to provide a loving & permanent home. My story is all too familiar, new baby came along & I was dethroned. I am a regal boy that will make a great companion for one lucky family.
Dusty (male, 11 years old, TULSA)
Will you just look at my smile? I’m Dusty a happy go lucky senior who needs a new home.
My owner couldn’t keep me any more so she asked these great people with SGRR to find my sister Misty and me a new home.My AKC papers say that I was born on July 3, 1997, so for an 11 year old I’m in pretty good shape. I’m a little on the wide side but that can be easily corrected with diet and exercise.I just want a home where I can lay my head at night and having a loving family to take care of me and I’ll give you lots of love back. I came from a home with cats, so like my sister Misty says “I am certified Cat Friendly”. I just love everyone, so please come and take a look at me I’m in Tulsa. (We Seniors are the easiest dogs to take care of!!!!!
(UPDATE: Don't I look like a "Distinguished Gentleman"!)
Erin (female, 2 years, Tulsa)

I sure hope someone here speaks Arkansan cause that's my native tongue. It was a bit of a journey for me, but if you have to land in doggy jail, I'd recommend the one I was just sprung from as they searched high & low to find the right place for me and they said it was far too soon for a youngster like me to travel to the Rainbow Bridge. The volunteers here say I'm the sweetest golden they've ever met, so I'm hoping that will be in my favor when it comes time to finding that special family.
Howie (male, ~10 mos, Tulsa)

Howdy, it's me Howie! The docs think I'm right around 10 mos which makes me undeniably 100% puppy. I'm in boarding right now & would love a home of my own. I do get to go on overnights with the volunteers to check my house skills & have been lucky enough to attend doggy daycare--so I'll just pretend I'm at summer camp counting down the days 'til my family comes to take me home!
Hunter (male, 7 years, OKC)
Here's a pic of me in doggy-jail--no I wasn't a repeat offender...my daddy died & my human sibling had no use for me. Thankfully rescues exist & network with each other, that's how I was lucky enough to land here. The volunteers are getting to know me, so stay tuned for updates.
Indy (male, 15 mos, Tulsa)

Like my namesake Indiana (aka Dr. Jones), I too am on a quest though for me, it's not about some old grail, but instead it's for a family to call my own. I'm a typical golden youngster that needs physical exercise & mental stimulation (no backyards or acres to run on for me). I am dog friendly, so a playmate would be an added bonus, but certainly not required.
Jake (male, 9 years, OKC)

I'll be hitting the big 1-0 next month & am looking for a family to spend the second half of my life with. You might wonder what a great senior like myself could possibly do to get himself booted from the only house he ever knew. Well, here goes...."Hi. My name is Jake & I'm a digger". The volunteers here tell me not to worry, as the cure to my addiction doesn't cost a cent & is easy to implement--don't leave me (or any golden) outside unattended cause we dig when we're bored & lonely. I am dog & cat friendly so a playmate would be great & I'm reportedly potty-trained. Could you ask for an easier mellow fellow? I don't think so!
Jethro (male, 3 years, OKC)

I'm new to rescue & have yet to learn that taking a good pic is the first step to being adopted into a GReat home...but I'm a quick learner & as soon as that picture taker lady gets around to it, I promise I'll say "cheese". I'm currently being evaluated by the volunteers, so stay tuned for updates on just how wonderful of a boy that I am (even if I can't take a good pic)!
Kelso (male, 6 years, OKC)

What can I say, I'm another loveable golden that was dumped at the shelter. Thankfully shelters & rescues work hand-in-hand to help fellas like me. I'm your typical pup that could stand a basic manners class, but I'm past the puppy stage, so I promise to be a quick learner. As I'm one of the many NKOTB (New Kids on the Block), stay tuned for updates to see if I have the "right stuff"!
Lexi (female, 16 mos, OKC) Adopted!

I guess we're having a golden explosion...not that I want to cut in line, but I sure hope my family comes sooner rather than later! Let's see, I'm a typical velcro girl who wants to be close to her family. I'm reportedly potty-trained & crate trained & have been through a basic manners course (though I wouldn't mind another to help us bond). I'm a bit too rough in play with those ankle biter type dogs, but should be just fine with the "Big Dogs". I do need to gain some weight, but a stable home & good quality kibble will take care of that in no time.
Lucy (female, 18 mos, Tulsa)

Like my namesake Lucille Ball, I'm a goregous redhead with a winning personality. My comedic timing might not be as great Ms Ball, but I promise to love you just as she adored her Ricky. As a youngster, I'm still learning to be a lady, but I do know "sit" and that's a start. Whether you're a Ricky, Ethel or a Fred--it doesn't matter to me, just get yourself approved to adopt & come pick me!
Lucy (female, 8 years, OKC)

Well, my boy will be heading off to college in a couple of years, so my owners felt it would be a good time for me to hit the road. Don't be fooled by my gray locks, I've got plenty of spunk to give the volunteers here a good work out and am no where near ready to fill my days with lengthy naps!
Luke (male, 2 years, Tulsa) Adopted!

I'm ready to enroll in a rigorous Jedi training program & am seeking out my very own Obi-Wan Kenobi who I wouldn't mind calling mom or dad! I'm potty-trained have a jump start on minding my p's & q's indoors. As any young Jedi in training, I'm in need of daily exercise & consistent rules.
Maggie (female, 2.5 years, OKC)

A change of residence for my family meant a new address for me as well--just not the same one. While I'm a shy gal & slow to warm up to strangers, I am a sweetheart. Dog friendly, kitty friendly, child friendly...if you can tag friendly on the end of it, I assure you, I'm it. I've already earned my potty-training badge, so that's one less worry for you. I'm already missing momma's day without one, please don't let me miss daddy's day!
Parker (male, 4 years, OKC)

Now that my girls have been adopted out, I guess it's my turn. I was surrendered along with my daughters after my breeder died. Thankfully we were turned over to rescue as opposed to being sold at auction where our lives of churning out puppies would have continued indefinitely. As a result of my time spent on "the farm", I'm a bit more skittish than some of the other guys here. I'm not a lost cause, but I'm not going to be a typical carefree golden anytime soon. I would love to have a calm family who would be willing to take things slow with me & show me that the world isn't a big, bad, scary place. A basic obedience class would be a great way for us to establish a bond with each other & help me gain some confidence!
Quinn (male, 8-9 years old, OKC)
Hi, my name is Quinn, & if you’re open minded & have a big heart and NOT looking for the old cliché of the “perfect, young, beautiful blond, female golden retriever”, I could be the perfect 8-9 y/o guy for you. As the saying goes, “Old Gold is the Best Gold”. No siree, none of that jumping on people, tearing up stuff in the house, or acting wild and crazy for me. I’m ready to be your loyal companion and enjoy a quiet laid back life. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still full of energy & always up for a good game of fetch, but I also know how to appreciate down time & a little rest & relaxation. I am ready to be your one and only “attention hog” (aka…no other pets for me, thank you very much!!) We “mature” gentlemen just don’t enjoy a bunch of those pesky furr babies begging for our attention and jumping on us. Please call and ask about me and come ready for a good game of fetch!!
Ranger (male, 18 mos, OKC)

Hi, it's Ranger here, another pound puppy. The folks that turned me in said, I was too hyper & dug too much. The volunteers said not to worry as all of youngins (we typically don't become "adults" until we're 3) when tossed in the backyard with little attention & no outlet for our boundless energy fail to live up to the lawn ornament status that our owners wanted us to be. Soooo, a little training, bring me inside to live WITH you, daily exercise and lots of love and I too will be another SGRR success story.
Rex (male, 4 years, Tulsa)

For those looking for a youthful guy minus all the negatives that go along with those wild & crazy puppies, look no further--it's me Rex! I was fortunate enough to be able to live inside with my family (where us goldens belong) so I've already acquired a good bit of practice with my house manners. I do need some help with leash skills & my waistline--us goldens have a hard time "pushing away from the table". If I sound like your guy, give me a shout!
Rider (male, 2 years, OKC) Adopted!

As the shelter staff sent me out the door to start my new life in rescue, they said to keep my chin up--a family (MY family) will come for me. So, I continue to hold my head up high, chin up hoping to make eye-contact with my new mom and/or dad. I am dog friendly and am not picky on size, I do just fine with all of them. I've been lucky enough to attend a couple of "outreaches" which means I get to be loved on by people of all shapes, sizes & ages and I absolutely love the attention.
Roxy (female, ~18 mos, Tulsa) Adopted!

Hopefully when you think of my name, Sting's "Roxanne" doesn't come to mind, cause I'm not that kind of gal (thank goodness rescues believe in spay/neuter). I'm a typical youngster who did not have a whole lot of consistency & exercise/mental stimulation--but never fear, a basic manners course, retrieving in the backyard & some nice long walks to meet satisfy my social butterfly needs. I am dog friendly and was raised with "skin siblings" so hopefully there is a family out there looking for a sweet gal like myself.
Sara (female, 8 years, Tulsa) Adoption Pending
I've been in a foster home for a while now, and I'm really looking forward to a forever home. My foster parents say I'm a sweet 8 year old lady who loves to sit out in the sun and roll in the grass. Short walks are fun, but no jogging! I love kids, and I'm living with 2 other Goldens, so I'm certainly child and dog-friendly. I'm housetrained, and I knock on the door to go out and come in. I'm laid back and quiet - both in the house and outside, but if you are not quick enough getting the food into my bowl, I'll bark to hurry you up. Long naps are my specialty. If there's a place in your home for me, I'm in Tulsa and would love to meet you.
Sassy (female, 7 years, Tulsa)

My name may be Sassy, but there's nothing Sassy about me, I'm your typical sweet natured golden long past puppy antics, but not so old that I don't know how to play. My indoor manners are solid & outside I only tryout my green thumb in the flower beds if I'm not supervised. I'm dog friendly & don't even mind the fluffy things that go Meow.
Shelby (female, 7 years, OKC) Adoption Pending

Summer is coming up & I'm looking for a water-loving family! Swimming would be a great way to help me shed that winter weight. I'm kid friendly--even with the little ones & loved to play fetch with "my boys". I do love to be pampered & spa days with the ladies would be just as agreeable. I'm dog friendly, but I don't know about kitty-cats just yet.
Sierra (female, 8 years, OKC) Adoption Pending

Looking for a "turn key" golden--I'd be that girl! I was surrendered along with my lil sis Cassie. Being a single parent & working long hours took its toll on our Dad & we were surrendered in hopes that there will be a family out there that will have the time & energy for us. Though we've spent the last 5 years together, it will be ok if we've got to part ways in order to have a "forever" home. I am potty-trained & am trusted in the house loose at night...you can't say that about those wild youngins!
Walker (male, 2 years, OKC)

Ok, I'm not sure what my life pre-rescue consisted of as us puppies don't have long attention spans, but the volunteers tell me I was surrendered with the name "Lil Britches". I don't know about you, but I can't see myself growing into a MAN with that kind of name. Fortunately, the volunteers took pity on me & gave me the strong, big boy name of Walker named after my hero, Chuck Norris' & his portrayal of a Texas Ranger. While I was not blessed with awesome kung fu skills like Chuck, I can assure you I'll rescue any damsal in distress, provided I can be rewarded with cuddles & belly rubs!
Winston (male, 7-8 years old, OKC)
Hello, my name is Winston, and as you can tell from my picture, I’m a mature, distinguished 7-8 year old fella. So, in doggie years, that puts me right smack in the middle of the “Puppy Boomer” or for you human types “Baby Boomer” generation. In fact I just received my AARP (Absolutely Adorable Redheaded Pooch) Membership, and I am ready and willing to start living the life of leisure as your loyal companion. We Boomers are still full of energy and understand that life really begins at 50!! Are you an “empty nester” looking for the perfect “child” who won’t ask to borrow your car, use your credit card, or stay out all night? Or, are you looking for someone to share your 30 minutes a day cardio walk? Then I’m your guy. All I ask in return is that you make me a member of the family and let me live inside where I can be safe and warm. I prefer to be an “only dog” where I can be your one-and-only and shower you with doggie kisses and become your life-long companion.
