Please remember, we at SGRR are not dog professionals. We simply love these dogs and want the best for them. If that sounds like you, we could really use your help. Volunteers are always needed! Participation is strictly voluntary with each individual contributing those skills they are most comfortable in performing.

You can also email us at adoptions@sgrr.org and leave us the same information. Because this is strictly a volunteer organization, it may take several days to get back with you.

Volunteering A great way to help out SGRR is to become a volunteer! There are many areas we need your help in, here are just a few!

* Help with Fundraising
* Transportation of Dogs
* Checking shelters for Goldens
* Telephone Contacts
* Editing & Mailing the Newsletter
* Email & Website Assistance
* Bathing and Playing with the boarded Goldens

Can you answer a phone? Then we’d like to hear from you! We are in desperate need of people who have a couple of hours a week to help SGRR with the Hotline. Don’t be afraid that we’ll just hand you a pen and pad of paper and tell you to “go for it.” We’ll train you (it’s not that hard) in how to handle the phone calls and provide the necessary information to callers. Besides, there will always be experienced volunteers just a phone call or email away to help you answer questions or deal with unexpected situations.

Follow-up Coordinator If phone work is not your thing, there are lots of other ways you can help. We are in need of a Follow-up Coordinator to help us follow-up on the dogs that have been placed and their adoptive families. We also need volunteers to do home visits and to help place dogs with their adoptive families. Again, please remember that an experienced volunteer is always available to help you help SGRR. The Bathing Brigade is always looking for volunteers to help bathe some of our dogs being boarded.  If you have a few hours free on Saturday, we always have dogs that need lots of hugs and belly rubs and a chance to interact with people.

Foster A Dog SGRR is always in need of foster homes for goldens awaiting adoption. For the special family that qualifies, being a foster home returns a deep sense of satisfaction. CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFORMATION ON FOSTERING A GOLDEN!

Donations The adoption fee covers only a portion of what it takes to keep the rescue going. We can use cash donations of any size at any time. Please make your check payable to Sooner Golden Retriever Rescue (or SGRR).

Donations of certain goods or services are also welcome. Since we have to move dogs, crates are always needed. One of our biggest fundraisers is our annual garage sale held at the beginning of April each year. We’ll help you by taking those unwanted items off your hands – and you’ll be helping the dogs.
